GBSF Peshawar Protet at Press club. (DAWN Report)

Govt blamed for damages

PESHAWAR, May 30: Gilgit-Baltistan Student Forum (GBSF) on Sunday blamed the government for the damages caused to local population due to artificial lake formed on Hunza River after landsliding in Attabad as it failed to take proper action to avoid the disaster.

The enraged students shared their sentiments with journalists during a protest demonstration they staged outside Peshawar Press Club. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against government and in favour of their demands.

They said artificial lake had been threatening locals since January 4, last year, but the government had failed to remove the debris to release the water. “Since the day one, the government ignored removing the debris leaving the locals to face the catastrophe if the lake burst”, they said.—Bureau Report
